What is the best serum for skin?
I decided to delve further into the world of serum as I had bought myself one. Not having used one before wondered exactly what it does and do I need it.
A good serum has rich, potent, levels of ingredients and used after cleansing on clean, slightly moistened, skin, before moisturizing.
There are plenty of skin care companies selling serum, and once again the choice can be confusing.
Before you begin to shop around, think about which one might suit your skin. And what ingredients will be best for your skin type.
Having said that, if you have good skin tone and no problems what so ever. Then you probably don’t need to go out hunting for the best serum for skin.
I don’t have any skin problems and did not notice any difference to my skin using a serum. Although, I am wondering if perhaps I didn’t use it for long enough or maybe need to try another brand?
The one thing about this type of skin care is the price, they are way more expensive than moisturizing creams etc. Yet, what I did notice was that a little goes a long way, as it is light and spreads easily and evenly very quickly. It is concentrated and you only need to use a small amount.
From everything I have read, using a good one is considered fantastic for anti-aging. Of course, to reap the anti-aging rewards, in my opinion, it is best to use a natural serum. Anything with ingredients listed that are hard to decipher is not worth buying. Your beautiful skin will not thank you in the long run.
Best Serum For Skin
Similar to a moisturizer, however, it does work a little differently as it is designed to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin.
Created with smaller molecules it can make its way through the layers of skin. Where it is supposed to work its magic on nourishing, firming, improving texture and smoothing fine lines (1).
Once you have applied your best serum. Wait a couple of minutes for it to absorb before you apply your favourite moisturizer.
Your moisturizer will lock in moisture and form a barrier to keep the skin hydrated. Moisturizers cannot pass through other layers of skin because they have larger molecules. Using a serum on your face and neck is aimed at sustaining the skin with many nourishing vitamins and minerals.
In fact, aging skin, it seems will respond quite favorably having this added to any anti-aging routine. As I am in my 50’s now, I feel I will probably make an effort to include using one in my routine more often.
Dab a few small dollops over your face and neck and gently rub in. Don’t apply too hard, there is no need to pull on your skin in any way.
Best Skin Serum For You
Choosing the best serum for your skin is crucial and I think this is the mistake I made when I first purchased one. I just bought the first one I saw on the shelf and not looking at the ingredients and if what it contained would do me justice.
After doing a bit of research there are a few ingredients worth having to make it the best serum for skin.
A good one will either, help lighten your skin, combat sun damage, or target aging, depending on what your condition is.
Remember what I consider great for me, does not necessarily mean it will be great for you. Keep in mind your complexion type and if you have older or younger skin.
Ok, here goes, for me, I think one of the best ingredients in a serum is one which has retinol. This is my all-time personal best to use on my skin and one I will definitely look for.
Retinol is a must have for aging, wrinkly skin. Although retinol can be a little drying when combined with other natural ingredients it should work wonders for you.
Vitamin C is another important ingredient and found to be great for aging skin, fading sunspots and giving collagen a boost, it is also good for brightening skin. This is one vitamin I love and take it regularly and will definitely check out a serum with this one.
ALA (alpha lipoic acid) is ideal for aging and dry skin and is more powerful than vitamin C. This is a fantastic antioxidant and worth having as an ingredient in any skin care you use.
Serum With Stem Cells
Plant stem cells are the next best thing when it comes to keeping your complexion in beautiful condition. And if you are looking for the best serum for skin, then from everything I have read, you need to look no further (2).
However, there is still a bit of controversy surrounding the use of stem cells. Once again, I feel it is something you need to try for yourself and not rely on hearsay.
When looking for a serum containing stem cells. Look for one which has the stem cell ingredient at the top of the list of ingredients.
Some of the plants you may find in a product are Butterfly Bush, Gotu Kola, Echinacea, Acai, Edelweiss, Gardenia, Helichrysums. Each one offering different effects for the skin.
Using a serum containing plant cells will apparently help improve suppleness, firmness, healing, collagen, elastin, hydration, and elasticity.
I have not used one containing a plant stem cell, I do feel I will try one at some stage.
To sum it up, I think the best serum for skin is a natural one containing lots of skin-boosting ingredients.
