There are so many beautiful, nourishing oils available and I love to try different ones. However, sesame is one I always have in the pantry.
Normally, I use it for oil pulling, I alternate between this one and coconut oil. Nowadays, I am using it more and more for my skin and as a condiment.
There are three different types of this oil you can use. Light pressed from raw sesame seeds, dark pressed from toasted seeds, cold pressed using low-temperature pressure to the seeds and organic.
Organic is the most expensive one to buy and the one I usually have in the kitchen.
Sesame oil health benefits are used in Ayurvedic medicine as a base oil for many of the herbal oils used. This type of medicine originated in India thousands of years ago. Considered an alternative medicine, using lots of herbs and minerals.
This wonderful oil comes from pressing and crushing the sesame seed, which is a powerful healthy superfood.
There are a lot of health claims made about this oil. As with everything these days, when it comes to health and wellness, remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

This is something I use on my skin. Therefore, I can only give you my opinion on how my skin feels.
I love to use it on my face and neck. After reading about all the wonderful properties it has for the skin, I had to buy some and try it for myself.
It has become a very special part of my anti-aging regime.
This amazing oil has an antioxidant called sesamol. I read somewhere that sesamol can help lighten sun spots and give UV protection. I am not sure about these claims, I doubt there would be enough sesamol in the oil to actually help.
Protection from UV rays I doubt would not be as strong as using a sunscreen. As much as we all like to go natural, relying on sesame oil health benefits to protect your skin from the sun would not be wise.
Sesamol only found in sesame oil is a powerful antioxidant. According to goodhealthacademy.com sesamol can slow down the aging process, by reducing wrinkles and rejuvenating skin. It does this by fighting free radicals and protecting elastin and collagen production.
So, I can be sure I am getting enough of this particular antioxidant I always buy cold pressed, unrefined, organic.
How To Use Sesame Oil On Skin
I like to apply it onto damp skin after cleansing in the evenings. This is the best way to use it, I don’t like to apply oil to my face in the mornings.
Usually, in the mornings, I use an organic rosehip oil cream followed by a chemical free SPF 50+.
Sesame oil health benefits is a lovely oil for aging skin, sometimes I will mix it with rosehip oil. I like to experiment with different oils, whatever oils I have in the bathroom at any one time, sometimes I will mix them all together. Other times I will mix one or two.
If you don’t like the smell of the oil, mix it with something else. Rosehip oil, shea butter, grapeseed oil, essential oil something like orange is a nice one for aging skin. Otherwise, if the slight nutty smell is good for you just use it straight.
It makes a fantastic cleanser and often I will use it for this purpose too.
Apparently, it can help with adult acne. Since I don’t suffer from this skin problem I can’t give you my opinion. Although being a natural oil, I can’t imagine it could do any harm.
Sesame contains proportionate amounts of oleic and linoleic acid. Skin prone to acne can be deficient in linoleic acid.
Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid found in many beauty products. It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
Oleic acid also a fatty acid is good for moisturising, softening and restoring the skin.
Sesame oil is a carrier oil and can be easily mixed with other carrier oils like shea butter and essential oils to make your own moisturizer.
Benefits Of Sesame Oil For Improved Health
If you are to believe everything you read, then you would be forgiven for thinking sesame oil health benefits can fix a lot of problems.
This is a lovely oil to include in any healthy diet. I would not, though, rely on it to fix a health problem. Rather use it as an accompaniment to all the other things you do for yourself.
It appears that this oil can prevent diabetes, improve heart health, reduce blood pressure, speed up healing, improve bone strength, therefore, helps guard against osteoporosis.
After reading some of the problems the benefits of sesame oil can help with, I can only suggest you don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
As I said earlier if you include this oil along with lots of other healthy things you do for yourself. There is no reason your body won’t benefit in some way from including sesame oil health benefits.
